The car
Introduced in late 2017, the 718 Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS were the most powerful four-cylinder 718s. Porsche started from the 2.5-liter VTG flat-four of the S models and fitted a newly developed intake plenum and a reworked turbocharger, lifting output above the S and above the naturally aspirated six-cylinder GTS cars of the previous generation.
Equipment that is optional on an S comes standard: Porsche Torque Vectoring with a mechanical rear differential lock, the Sport Chrono Package, PASM with a 10-millimeter lower ride height, and a sport exhaust. A Sport Design front fascia and Sport Seats Plus trimmed in Alcantara identify it.
A six-speed manual is standard and the seven-speed PDK optional. Porsche’s figures for a PDK car are 0–60 mph in 3.9 seconds and a 180 mph top speed. In 2020 the GTS name passed to the six-cylinder 718 GTS 4.0, which is covered on its own page.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 360 hp and 317 lb-ft to 415 hp and 400 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 435 hp and 415 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2017–2019 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS / Cayman GTS (2.5) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
Check the model name on the title or window sticker. The later 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 / Cayman GTS 4.0 has a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six, while this car has the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. The engines are entirely different, so each has its own page.
No. Both use a 2.5-liter VTG flat-four, but the GTS has its own intake plenum, turbocharger and factory output, along with a different standard chassis and exhaust. That is why it is listed as a separate catalog entry from the S.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2019 car, Stage 1 takes it from 360 hp to 415 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 435 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
