About the Porsche 911 Carrera / Carrera T (992.1)

The eighth-generation 911, the 992, reached US dealers for the 2020 model year, and the base Carrera joined the range in July 2019. Its 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six uses model-specific turbochargers with smaller turbine and compressor wheels than the Carrera S, and it drives through a new eight-speed PDK, the only gearbox for the Carrera.

The Carrera is rear-wheel drive, sold as a coupe or cabriolet on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, with a full-width light bar across the tail. Apart from the front and rear fascias, the outer skin is aluminum.

The Carrera T reached US dealers in spring 2023. It pairs the same engine with a seven-speed manual as standard, or an eight-speed PDK at no cost, plus a mechanical limited-slip differential with torque vectoring, Sport Chrono and PASM Sport suspension 10 mm lower. With the manual, thinner glass, a smaller battery, reduced sound insulation and no rear seats, it weighs 100 lb less than a Carrera, and rear-axle steering is an option.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 385 hp and 332 lb-ft to 540 hp and 500 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 560 hp and 520 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

FAQ

911 Carrera / Carrera T (992.1) tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the 911 Carrera / Carrera T (992.1) does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2020–2024 Porsche 911 Carrera / Carrera T (992.1) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

Are the 992.1 Carrera 4 and Targa 4 on this page?

They share this engine, but our catalog lists the calibration only for the rear-wheel-drive Carrera and the Carrera T. If you have a Carrera 4, Carrera 4 Cabriolet or Targa 4 from these years, contact us before you order.

How do I tell a Carrera T from a regular 992.1 Carrera?

The T has Agate Grey mirror covers and model lettering, Titanium Grey 20-inch front and 21-inch rear Carrera S wheels and high-gloss black sport exhaust tailpipes, and its manual gearbox is standard. A regular Carrera rides on 19- and 20-inch wheels.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the 911 Carrera / Carrera T (992.1)?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2024 car, Stage 1 takes it from 385 hp to 540 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 560 hp.

Do I need a TCU tune for the 911 Carrera / Carrera T (992.1)?

A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
