About the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992.1)

Cooling defines the 992.1 GT3 RS. In place of the three radiators of earlier cars it has one large, angled radiator in the nose, where other 911s carry luggage, an arrangement first used on the Le Mans class-winning 911 RSR. The space freed at the sides holds active aerodynamic elements.

Continuously adjustable flaps at the front and a two-part rear wing, whose upper edge sits higher than the roof, deliver 1,896 lb of downforce at 177 mph: by Porsche’s figures twice the 991.2 GT3 RS and three times a 992 GT3. A drag reduction system, the first on a production Porsche, flattens the wings at the push of a button, and in a hard stop from high speed they act as an air brake.

The 4.0-liter flat-six still revs to 9,000 rpm, now with new camshafts and optimized individual throttle bodies, and drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed PDK with a shorter overall ratio than the GT3’s. The double-wishbone front axle uses teardrop-profile links that add downforce of their own.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 518 hp and 343 lb-ft to 570 hp and 405 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 610 hp and 420 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

FAQ

911 GT3 RS (992.1) tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the 911 GT3 RS (992.1) does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2023–2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992.1) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

Why is its top speed lower than the GT3’s?

The RS is set up for downforce rather than straight-line speed. Porsche quotes a 184 mph top track speed, reached in seventh gear, against 197 mph for a PDK GT3, because the large wing and active elements add drag; the drag reduction system flattens the wings on straights within a set operating range.

Can the suspension be adjusted from the driver’s seat?

Yes. In Track mode, rotary controls on the steering wheel set rebound and compression damping separately for the front and rear axles, in several stages, and adjust the rear differential lock, while a separate button operates the drag reduction system.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the 911 GT3 RS (992.1)?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2024 car, Stage 1 takes it from 518 hp to 570 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 610 hp.

Do I need a TCU tune for the 911 GT3 RS (992.1)?

A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,000). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
