The car
What separates the 718 Boxster S and Cayman S from the 2.0-liter cars is a bigger engine with turbocharger technology from the 911 Turbo. Their 2.5-liter flat-four uses variable turbine geometry (VTG): adjustable guide vanes control how exhaust gas reaches the turbine, and an extra wastegate keeps the system working efficiently.
The layout is shared with the rest of the 718 range: engine behind the seats, rear-wheel drive, a six-speed manual as standard and a seven-speed PDK as the option. A PDK car with the Sport Chrono Package reaches 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, according to Porsche, and both body styles are rated at 177 mph.
Roadster or coupe is the main choice here, since the Boxster S and Cayman S share engine, gearboxes and performance figures. For the Cayman S, Porsche offered for the first time a PASM sport chassis that sits 20 millimeters lower than standard.
On a 2024 car, Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 345 hp and 310 lb-ft to 415 hp and 400 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 435 hp and 415 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2016–2024 Porsche 718 Boxster S / Cayman S models. Choose your year at the top of the page; figures and prices for each year are shown in the table above.
The GTS keeps this VTG engine but gets a newly developed intake plenum and an optimized turbocharger, plus Porsche Torque Vectoring with a mechanical rear differential lock, Sport Chrono and lowered PASM as standard. Its factory output is higher, and it has its own page.
No. The naturally aspirated 4.0-liter cars, the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 / Cayman GTS 4.0 and the 718 Spyder / Cayman GT4, each have their own page. This one is for the turbocharged 2.5-liter Boxster S and Cayman S, with either gearbox.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2024 car, Stage 1 takes it from 345 hp to 415 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 435 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
