About the Aston Martin DB11 V8

A year after the DB11 went on sale with a V12, Aston Martin added this version, the first Aston to use the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 supplied by Mercedes-AMG. It was not positioned as a cut-price DB11. The smaller engine is lighter and sits lower, with more of its mass inside the wheelbase, and Aston Martin gave the car its own bushings, suspension geometry, anti-roll bars, springs, dampers and stability-control software.

Behind the engine, the layout is shared with the twelve-cylinder coupe: an eight-speed ZF automatic mounted at the rear axle, and rear-wheel drive through a limited-slip differential with torque vectoring.

The V8 was also the engine of the DB11 Volante, the soft-top version revealed in late 2017 and delivered from 2018. For the 2022 model year Aston Martin raised the V8’s output and its top speed, and the DB12 took over from the DB11 in 2023.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 503 hp and 505 lb-ft to 600 hp and 620 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 630 hp and 650 lb-ft.

FAQ

DB11 V8 tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the DB11 V8 does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2018–2023 Aston Martin DB11 V8 models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

How can I tell a DB11 V8 from a DB11 V12?

Look at the hood and the headlights. The V8 car has two hood vents where the V12 has four, and its headlight bezels have a dark finish. Underneath, the V8 is the lighter of the two and runs its own suspension tuning. The V12 coupe has its own page, DB11 V12.

Does this page cover the DB12?

No. The DB12, revealed in May 2023 and sold in the US from the 2024 model year, replaced the DB11 with a more powerful version of the AMG V8 and a new interior. This page is for the DB11 V8, coupe and Volante, from 2018 to 2023.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the DB11 V8?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2023 car, Stage 1 takes it from 503 hp to 600 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 630 hp.
