The car

About the Aston Martin DBX

Revealed in Beijing in November 2019, the DBX was Aston Martin’s first SUV and the first car built at its factory in St Athan, Wales. Rather than borrowing another manufacturer’s platform, Aston Martin designed a dedicated bonded aluminum structure for it, so the five-seat body was shaped around the brand’s proportions from the start.

Power comes from a version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged Mercedes-AMG V8 already used in the DB11 and Vantage, paired with a nine-speed torque-converter automatic. All-wheel drive works through an active center differential and an electronic limited-slip rear differential.

Ride and body control were the engineering focus: triple-volume adaptive air suspension can raise or lower the body, and a 48-volt electric active roll control system resists body lean in corners. In April 2024 Aston Martin made the more powerful DBX707 the only DBX version.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 542 hp and 516 lb-ft to 750 hp and 740 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 790 hp and 760 lb-ft.

FAQ

DBX tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the DBX does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2020–2024 Aston Martin DBX models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

How does the DBX compare with the DBX707?

The two share the body, the platform and the 4.0-liter V8 block. The DBX707 adds ball-bearing turbochargers, a wet-clutch nine-speed automatic, standard carbon-ceramic brakes and retuned suspension, along with a larger grille and quad exhausts. The DBX is the softer-riding original, and the DBX707 has its own page.

Is the DBX built on a Lamborghini or Mercedes platform?

No. Unlike several rival performance SUVs that share an architecture, the DBX sits on a bonded aluminum platform that Aston Martin developed for this car alone. Mercedes-AMG supplies the V8 engine, but the structure, suspension and body are Aston Martin’s own.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the DBX?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2024 car, Stage 1 takes it from 542 hp to 750 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 790 hp.
