The car
From the start of the second generation, Audi sold the R8 V10 plus as the track-oriented alternative to the regular V10. It draws more power from the same 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 and weighs about 110 lb less, and Audi quotes 0–60 mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph for the coupe.
The weight saving and sharper focus come from its equipment. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard, the front lip, mirror housings, rear diffuser and fixed rear wing are carbon fiber, racing shell seats are fitted, and Audi drive select gains a performance mode. Instead of the magnetic ride adaptive dampers of the V10, it uses a fixed sport suspension.
Power still goes through the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch and quattro all-wheel drive, and the engine and gearbox are shared with the Lamborghini Huracán. A Spyder version joined the coupe. With the 2020 update the V10 plus name was retired and its place taken by the R8 V10 performance.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 602 hp and 413 lb-ft to 650 hp and 460 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 680 hp and 480 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

The R8 V10 performance, introduced with the 2020 update. Audi of America describes it as the model previously known as the R8 V10 plus. It keeps the V10 and quattro drive but has the restyled front end of the updated R8. It has its own page, R8 V10 performance.
Yes. Audi of America added a V10 plus Spyder to the range, quoting 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds, a tenth slower than the coupe. Both share the fixed sport suspension and standard carbon-ceramic brakes.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2019 car, Stage 1 takes it from 602 hp to 650 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 680 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,499). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
