About the Audi S6 / S7 (C8)

Audi of America introduced the C8 S6 and S7 in July 2019, and the new generation changed the drivetrain almost completely. In place of the C7’s V8 sits a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an electric powered compressor, the first offered by Audi in the US; the 48-volt system also powers that compressor.

An eight-speed Tiptronic automatic replaces the dual-clutch, and quattro normally divides torque 40:60 between the axles but can send up to 70 percent forward or 85 percent rearward. The S6 remains the sedan and the S7 the five-door Sportback, which comes with adaptive air suspension as standard. Audi quotes 0–60 mph in 4.4 to 4.5 seconds.

The V8 cars of the previous generation are listed on their own page, S6 / S7 (C7), and differ in engine, gearbox and drive hardware.

On a 2024 car, Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 420 hp and 406 lb-ft to 560 hp and 580 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 580 hp and 600 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

FAQ

S6 / S7 (C8) tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the S6 / S7 (C8) does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2019–2024 Audi S6 / S7 (C8) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; figures and prices for each year are shown in the table above.

How can I tell a C8 S6 or S7 from the C7?

The C8 has a V6, not a V8: a 2.9-liter twin-turbo engine with an electric powered compressor and a 48-volt system, driving through an eight-speed Tiptronic with a torque converter. The C7 has a 4.0-liter V8 and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and it is listed on its own page, S6 / S7 (C7).

What is the difference between the C8 S6 and S7?

The body and the standard suspension. The S6 is a four-door sedan, while the S7 is a five-door Sportback with a fastback roof and a hatch, and it came with adaptive air suspension as standard. Engine, gearbox and quattro drive are the same in both.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the S6 / S7 (C8)?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2024 car, Stage 1 takes it from 420 hp to 560 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 580 hp.

Do I need a TCU tune for the S6 / S7 (C8)?

A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,499). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
