The car
Audi of America’s first RS SUV, the RS Q8 arrived for the 2020 model year at the top of the Q8 family. In November 2019 Audi announced a lap record for production SUVs on the Nürburgring Nordschleife of 7:42.2.
Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 drives through an eight-speed Tiptronic and a purely mechanical quattro system that normally splits torque 40:60 and can send up to 70 percent to the front or 85 percent to the rear. A sport rear differential, all-wheel steering and active roll stabilization are all standard, and RS ceramic brakes were available. Audi quotes 0–60 mph in 3.7 seconds and 155 mph, or 190 mph with the ceramic brakes.
The RS Q8 shares its platform and twin-turbo V8 with the Lamborghini Urus, but it wears Audi’s five-seat coupe-SUV body and its own calibration. For 2025 it was succeeded by the RS Q8 performance.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 592 hp and 590 lb-ft to 780 hp and 740 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 800 hp and 760 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2020–2023 Audi RS Q8 models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
The RS Q8 has substantially more output from its 4.0-liter V8, with the sport differential, all-wheel steering and active roll stabilization all standard, where the SQ8 lists the sport differential and roll stabilization as options. Only the RS Q8 was offered with RS ceramic brakes. The SQ8 has its own page.
They are related: both use a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and share an underlying platform. The engine calibration, body and interior differ, so each is calibrated separately. The Urus has its own page in our Lamborghini section.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2023 car, Stage 1 takes it from 592 hp to 780 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 800 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,499). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
