The car
Audi revealed the RS 7 at the Detroit show in January 2013 as a 2014 model, the first RS version of the A7 Sportback. Its 4.0-liter TFSI V8 places both turbochargers and the intercooler between the cylinder banks, and cylinder on demand shuts down cylinders 2, 3, 5 and 8 at light load to save fuel.
Where the S7 of the same generation uses a seven-speed S tronic, the RS 7 has an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic. quattro all-wheel drive is standard, and by the 2017 model year Audi listed the rear sport differential as standard as well. Audi quotes 0–60 mph in 3.7 seconds and 174 mph.
For 2017 Audi added the RS 7 performance, with more output and an overboost function, standard ceramic brakes, Dynamic Ride Control, a sport exhaust and a 190 mph top speed. Both versions have the five-door Sportback body with four seats.
On a 2019 car, Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 553 hp and 516 lb-ft to 700 hp and 750 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 740 hp and 800 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2013–2019 Audi RS 7 (C7) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; figures and prices for each year are shown in the table above.
The first one, the C7, which arrived for the 2014 model year. The second-generation C8 RS 7 came to the US for 2021 with a new body and five seats, and it is not covered here.
Both use a version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, but the RS 7 has considerably more output, an eight-speed Tiptronic instead of the S7’s seven-speed S tronic, and RS styling and chassis tuning. The C7 S7 is covered on its own page, S6 / S7 (C7).
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2019 car, Stage 1 takes it from 553 hp to 700 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 740 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,499). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
