About the Bentley Continental GT V8 / V8 S (second generation)

The second-generation Continental GT launched in 2011 with the W12 alone. Bentley introduced the V8 in 2012 as a more efficient alternative, then added the V8 S in 2014 with sharper responses and a firmer chassis. Many reviewers preferred the V8 to the twelve-cylinder car for its louder exhaust and livelier character.

The engine is a 3,993 cc twin-turbo V8 that produces its peak torque from 1,700 rpm, driving all four wheels through a ZF eight-speed automatic. For the V8 S, Bentley recalibrated the gearbox, revised the spring and damper rates, anti-roll bars, suspension uprights and stability control, and lowered the ride height by 10 mm.

This page covers 2014 to 2018, the last five years of this body, including cars built after the 2015 refresh. Bentley later used the same V8 as the basis for the Continental GT3-R, which has its own page.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 507 hp and 502 lb-ft to 680 hp and 720 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 700 hp and 740 lb-ft.

FAQ

Continental GT V8 / V8 S (second generation) tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the Continental GT V8 / V8 S (second generation) does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2014–2018 Bentley Continental GT V8 / V8 S (second generation) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

How do I tell a V8 S from a standard Continental GT V8?

The V8 S has a gloss-black front splitter, side sills, rear diffuser and matrix grille, open-spoke 20-inch wheels with red brake calipers, and it sits 10 mm lower. Bentley rated it at 192 mph against 188 mph for the standard V8. Both are listed on this page.

What separates this car from the third-generation Continental GT V8?

The replacement, sold from 2019, is a new design with the front wheels moved forward, a dual-clutch gearbox in place of this car’s torque-converter automatic, and all-wheel drive that runs mostly through the rear wheels. It has its own page: Continental GT V8 / GTC V8 (third generation).

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the Continental GT V8 / V8 S (second generation)?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2018 car, Stage 1 takes it from 507 hp to 680 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 700 hp.
