About the BMW 750i (G11 / G12)

Between the six-cylinder 740i and the V12 M760Li sat the 750i, the V8 version of the sixth-generation 7 Series. It went on sale in the US in the fall of 2015 as a 2016 model, as the rear-drive 750i and the all-wheel-drive 750i xDrive, and like every US car of this generation it rides on the long wheelbase.

Its 4.4-liter V8 places both turbochargers in the vee between the cylinder banks and drives through an eight-speed Steptronic. BMW quoted 4.3 seconds from 0 to 60 mph for the 750i xDrive, and self-leveling air suspension at both axles was standard.

This page covers the 2016 to 2019 cars. The facelifted V8 sedans that followed, with a much larger grille and a reworked engine, have their own page, 750i xDrive (G11 / G12 facelift).

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 445 hp and 480 lb-ft to 580 hp and 605 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 610 hp and 650 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

FAQ

750i (G11 / G12) tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the 750i (G11 / G12) does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2016–2019 BMW 750i (G11 / G12) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

Does this page cover the 2020–2022 750i xDrive?

No. BMW reworked the V8 for the 2020 facelift, and those cars have their own page, 750i xDrive (G11 / G12 facelift), with their own figures. A facelifted car is easy to spot: its kidney grille is about 40 percent larger and sits in a one-piece surround. The 2016 to 2019 cars have the smaller grille.

How is the 750i different from the M760Li?

The M760i xDrive (G12) replaces the V8 with a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12, adds M Performance suspension tuning and a rear-biased xDrive setup, and wears V12 badges on its rear pillars. The 750i is the more restrained car, with the same long body and air suspension.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the 750i (G11 / G12)?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2019 car, Stage 1 takes it from 445 hp to 580 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 610 hp.

Do I need a TCU tune for the 750i (G11 / G12)?

A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
