The car
BMW put the G80 M3 on sale in the US in March 2021, and its large, deep frameless kidney grille sets it apart from the M3 (F80) before it. The S58 engine keeps a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six layout but is a new design, with a closed-deck block, wire-arc-sprayed cylinder liners, a forged crankshaft and a cylinder head cast around a 3D-printed core, and it revs to 7,200 rpm.
Against the F80 the sedan is 4.6 inches longer, with a wheelbase 1.8 inches longer, and it keeps five seats and a carbon-fiber roof. In the US the M3 without a suffix comes only with a six-speed manual that matches revs on downshifts, rear-wheel drive and 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels. BMW quotes 0–60 mph in 4.1 seconds and a 155 mph limit, or 180 mph with the M Driver’s Package.
Automatic and all-wheel-drive G80s, the Competition, Competition xDrive and CS, are listed on their own pages.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 473 hp and 406 lb-ft to 750 hp and 730 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 785 hp and 750 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2021–2024 BMW M3 (G80) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
The grille is the quickest clue: the G80’s frameless kidneys are tall and reach deep into the bumper, where the F80 has two wide, shallow ones. The engine code is S58 on the G80 and S55 on the F80. The earlier sedan has its own page, M3 (F80).
Only the base sedan, which in the US has the six-speed manual and rear-wheel drive. The M3 Competition, M3 Competition xDrive and M3 CS leave the factory with different ratings and an eight-speed automatic, the last two also with all-wheel drive, so each has a page of its own.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2024 car, Stage 1 takes it from 473 hp to 750 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 785 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
