The car
Only one model year of the M5 CS reached the US, 2022, and BMW described it as the quickest and most powerful production BMW it had built. It begins with the M5 Competition and sheds about 230 pounds, with carbon fiber for the roof, the vented, unpainted hood, the front splitter, rear spoiler, rear diffuser and mirror caps, and M Carbon ceramic brakes as standard, which alone account for 51 pounds.
Inside, the rear bench gives way to two individual seats, making this the first four-seat M5, and the front occupants get M Carbon bucket seats. The twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 is held in the Competition’s stiff engine mounts, the springs are 10 percent firmer, and the eight-speed M Steptronic and M xDrive carry over. BMW quotes 0–60 mph in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 626 hp and 553 lb-ft to 780 hp and 750 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 860 hp and 810 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2021–2022 BMW M5 CS (F90) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
It has slightly more power from the same V8, weighs about 230 pounds less, rides on firmer springs, has carbon-ceramic brakes as standard and seats four instead of five. BMW sold it in the US for the 2022 model year only. The M5 Competition (F90) is listed on its own page.
Gold Bronze finishes on the kidney grille surround, the badges and the 20-inch forged wheels, yellow light tubes in the headlights and an unpainted carbon-fiber hood with vents. Inside, there are two individual rear seats instead of a bench.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2022 car, Stage 1 takes it from 626 hp to 780 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 860 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
