The car
The Speciale was the 458’s special series, presented in 2013 for owners who wanted the car at its most focused. Ferrari made it lighter than the 458 Italia, and its steering response and lateral grip were the best the company had measured on a production car at the time.
Its 4.5-liter V8 runs a 14.0:1 compression ratio, against 12.5:1 in the Italia, and Ferrari called it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 it had built. The seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and rear-wheel drive carry over. Movable flaps in the nose and tail add downforce in corners and reduce drag on straights, and the car marked the debut of Side Slip Angle Control, which reads how far the car is sliding and adjusts the traction control and electronic differential to match.
The Speciale A, or Aperta, followed at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in a run of 499 cars. It uses an aluminum retractable hard top that deploys in 14 seconds.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 597 hp and 398 lb-ft to 630 hp and 430 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 650 hp and 450 lb-ft.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2013–2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale / Speciale A models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
The Speciale is the coupe. The Speciale A is the open version, limited to 499 cars, with a retractable aluminum hard top that adds 50 kg to the dry weight. Ferrari quotes 3.0 seconds to 100 km/h for both and a 320 km/h top speed for the Speciale A.
Ferrari lists its dry weight at 1,290 kg against 1,380 kg for the Italia, and its V8 runs higher compression. It adds active aerodynamic flaps, Side Slip Angle Control, forged wheels 12 kg lighter than the Italia’s and a specific tire compound. The 458 Italia and Spider are on their own page.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2015 car, Stage 1 takes it from 597 hp to 630 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 650 hp.
