The car
McLaren developed the 765LT from the 720S and took 80 kg (176 pounds) out of it, while adding 25 percent more downforce and in-gear acceleration that McLaren puts at up to 15 percent quicker.
Its 4.0-liter M840T twin-turbo V8 has LT-specific forged pistons and a head gasket from the Senna, and breathes out through a titanium quad-exit exhaust; the seven-speed SSG and rear-wheel drive stay. The front sits 5 mm lower on a track 6 mm wider, and polycarbonate glazing is part of the weight saving.
McLaren quotes 0–60 mph in 2.7 seconds, 0–124 mph in 7.0 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph for the coupe, which reached customers from late September 2020. Dry weight is 2,709 pounds.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 755 hp and 590 lb-ft to 870 hp and 720 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 955 hp and 750 lb-ft.

McLaren limited the coupe to 765 cars, matching the name, and built the Spider to the same total. In the US the coupe was sold as a 2021 model and the Spider as a 2022 model.
The Spider uses the Monocage II-S tub with a retractable hard top and is 108 pounds heavier at DIN weight. McLaren quotes the same 2.7 seconds to 60 mph and 205 mph top speed, with 0–124 mph in 7.2 seconds against the coupe’s 7.0.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2023 car, Stage 1 takes it from 755 hp to 870 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 955 hp.
