The car
Mercedes-AMG describes the AMG GT as the second sports car it developed entirely in-house, after the SLS AMG, and it follows that car’s layout: the engine sits behind the front axle and a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT dual-clutch gearbox is mounted at the rear as a transaxle, for a 47:53 front-to-rear weight split. The structure is an aluminum spaceframe.
Its hand-built 4.0-liter V8, the M178, was the first AMG sports-car engine to combine turbochargers mounted inside the vee with dry-sump lubrication, which lets it sit lower in the chassis. Versions of the same V8 without the dry sump also power the W205 C63 and the GLC63.
The GT S coupe arrived first, followed by the base GT, the Roadster, the GT C and the GT R. With the 2018 facelift the base GT and GT S gained the AMG Panamericana grille.
On a 2022 car, Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 469 hp and 480 lb-ft to 650 hp and 670 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 675 hp and 685 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2015–2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT (C190) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; figures and prices for each year are shown in the table above.
No. The four-door AMG GT 63 and GT 63 S (X290) share the name and a 4.0-liter V8 but are different cars, with all-wheel drive, a nine-speed MCT and room for four or five. This two-door AMG GT is a two-seat sports car with a dry-sump engine and a rear transaxle. The four-door models have their own pages.
Our catalog lists the two-door AMG GT as a single entry, with the factory figure shown in the table. The GT S, GT C and GT R left the factory with more power than the base GT, so contact us to confirm what is available for yours before ordering.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2022 car, Stage 1 takes it from 469 hp to 650 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 675 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,399). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
