The car
The GT 43 opened the X290 four-door range from below when Mercedes-Benz USA added it for the 2021 model year, two years after the GT 53 and the V8 GT 63 models went on sale. It uses the same long four-door coupe body on a 116.2-inch wheelbase, with 12.7 cubic feet of cargo space, and it was still part of the US range for 2024.
Its engine is a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, in which an integrated starter-generator gives short bursts of electric assistance at low revs. A nine-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT automatic sends drive to AMG Performance 4MATIC+ variable all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz estimates 0–60 mph at 4.8 seconds and limits top speed to 168 mph.
Set against the GT 53, the difference lies in the engine’s output and the figures that follow from it: the GT 53 is quoted at 4.4 seconds and 174 mph. The US specification sheets list the same steel springs with continuously adjustable dampers, 14.2-inch front brake discs and staggered 19-inch wheels for both cars.
On a 2024 car, Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 362 hp and 369 lb-ft to 430 hp and 470 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 450 hp and 485 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2019–2024 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 43 4-Door Coupé (X290) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; figures and prices for each year are shown in the table above.
No. Mercedes-Benz USA introduced it as a 2021 model; for 2019 and 2020 the US four-door range was the GT 53, GT 63 and GT 63 S. If your X290 is a 2019 or 2020, check the badge on the trunk lid and choose the matching page before ordering.
No. The AMG GT 43 coupe that Mercedes-Benz USA launched for 2025 is a two-door, rear-wheel-drive sports car with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and an electric exhaust-gas turbocharger. This page is the X290 four-door with the six-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive; only the name is shared.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2024 car, Stage 1 takes it from 362 hp to 430 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 450 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,399). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
