The car
Mercedes-Benz credits the CLS with starting the four-door coupe idea, and in the second, C218 generation the CLS63 S was the top of the range. It pairs the low four-seat body with AMG’s hand-built 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 and the seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT, sending power to all four wheels through AMG Performance 4MATIC. The rear axle rides on air springs.
The 2015 model year brought the update: a new front end with a diamond-pattern grille like the AMG GT S of the time and MULTIBEAM LED headlights. Mercedes-Benz quotes 0–60 mph in 3.5 seconds and an electronically limited 186 mph for the later cars.
No 63 version followed. For 2019 the third-generation CLS arrived with five seats and the six-cylinder CLS53 AMG as its AMG model, and the V8 CLS550 (C218) is the non-AMG sibling of this car.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 577 hp and 590 lb-ft to 675 hp and 765 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 695 hp and 785 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2014–2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 S AMG (C218) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
Look at the front. From the 2015 model year the CLS carries a chrome diamond-pattern grille and MULTIBEAM LED headlights, while the 2014 car has the earlier front design. The engine, MCT gearbox and all-wheel drive did not change, and this page covers 2014 through 2018.
The CLS53 belongs to the next generation, sold from 2019. It uses a 3.0-liter inline six with a turbocharger, an electric auxiliary compressor and the EQ Boost starter-alternator, a nine-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT and 4MATIC+. The CLS63 S keeps the 5.5-liter V8 and a four-seat cabin. Each car has its own page.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2018 car, Stage 1 takes it from 577 hp to 675 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 695 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,399). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
