The car
Under the AMG badges, the W463 G63 is still the traditional G-Class: a body-on-frame SUV with coil-sprung rigid axles front and rear, permanent all-wheel drive split 50:50 between the axles and locking differentials for off-road use.
AMG’s contribution is a hand-built 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, driving through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic and exhaling through side-exit exhausts. For the 2017 model, Mercedes-Benz estimates 0–60 mph in 5.3 seconds, with an electronic limit of 130 mph.
The V12 G65 was sold alongside it, and the non-AMG G550 shares the body and chassis; neither is covered by this page. The W463A that followed for 2019 has its own page. For 2017 Mercedes-Benz USA priced the G63 at $141,400, between the G550 and the G65.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 544 hp and 560 lb-ft to 675 hp and 765 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 695 hp and 785 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2013–2018 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG (W463) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
The W463A arrived for 2019 with a new interior built around a widescreen cockpit, a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and nine-speed automatic in place of the 5.5-liter and seven-speed, and independent double-wishbone front suspension instead of a rigid front axle. Model years 2013–2018 are the W463 covered here.
No. The G65 of the same years uses a hand-built 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 with the same AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC gearbox, and it is not in our catalog, so please contact us about a G65. The non-AMG G550 of these years has its own page, G550 (W463).
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2018 car, Stage 1 takes it from 544 hp to 675 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 695 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,399). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
