The car
For 2019 the G63 was extensively re-engineered. The ladder frame stays, but for the first time the front axle has independent double-wishbone suspension, mounted directly to the frame; the rear keeps a rigid axle, and Mercedes-AMG says torsional rigidity of the frame, body and mounts rose by about 55 percent.
A hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with cylinder deactivation replaced the 5.5-liter, paired with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G automatic. All-wheel drive became rear-biased at 40:60, with three differential locks and a low-range ratio of 2.93:1, and the cabin gained a widescreen cockpit.
Mercedes-Benz estimates 0–60 mph in 4.4 seconds for 2019 and quotes an electronically limited 137 mph, or 149 mph with the AMG Driver’s Package.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 577 hp and 627 lb-ft to 760 hp and 735 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 800 hp and 750 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2019–2024 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG (W463A) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
No. From the 2025 model year the G63 adds a hybrid-assist system to its V8, a change to the powertrain, and our catalog lists this generation for 2019–2024. Contact us about a 2025 or newer G63 before ordering.
Both use the same body, ladder frame, independent front suspension and three differential locks. The G550 has its own 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with the 9G-TRONIC automatic and a 130 mph limiter, while the G63 gets AMG’s hand-built engine, the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G and AMG-developed suspension. The G550 (W463A) has its own page.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2024 car, Stage 1 takes it from 577 hp to 760 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 800 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,399). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
