The car
Seven seats in three rows and a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8: the GL63 is AMG’s version of the X166 GL-Class. Power reaches all four wheels through a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT automatic and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, so the GL63 keeps the cabin of the regular GL and adds AMG’s V8 to it.
To keep its body flat in corners the GL63 uses the Active Curve System, whose active stabilizers counter body lean, and it rides on 21-inch AMG twin five-spoke wheels, finished in black with brushed accents, in front of large brakes with Adaptive Braking Technology.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 550 hp and 561 lb-ft to 675 hp and 765 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 695 hp and 785 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

No. The GLS63 that came after it, from the 2017 model year, is not in our catalog. It also uses a hand-built 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 and seats seven, but it is a separate model; contact us if you would like to ask about one.
Our catalog lists the GL63 for 2013 to 2015. All of these are the X166 generation with the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 and seven-speed automatic, and the catalog shows the same factory figure for each year.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2015 car, Stage 1 takes it from 550 hp to 675 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 695 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,399). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
