About the Mercedes-Benz GLC43 AMG (X253 / C253)

The GLC43 is the six-cylinder AMG of the first-generation GLC, sold from 2017 both as the five-seat SUV and as the GLC Coupe with its sloping roofline, and positioned below the V8 GLC63. The GLC range itself had begun a year earlier, for 2016, with the four-cylinder GLC300 only.

It uses the AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, a nine-speed automatic and AMG Performance 4MATIC with a 31:69 front-to-rear split, and its AMG Sport Suspension is based on AIR BODY CONTROL air springs. Mercedes-Benz quotes 0–60 mph in 4.5 to 4.8 seconds depending on body and year, with a 130 mph limit.

For 2020 the SUV gained the updated design, with an AMG-specific grille, new exterior lights, a more expressive front bumper and round twin tailpipes, along with the MBUX system, the AMG DYNAMICS agility control and more output from the V6.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 362 hp and 384 lb-ft to 420 hp and 485 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 455 hp and 520 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

FAQ

GLC43 AMG (X253 / C253) tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the GLC43 AMG (X253 / C253) does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2015–2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC43 AMG (X253 / C253) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

Which GLC43 years and bodies are covered here?

The GLC range began with the GLC300 for 2016, and the GLC43 SUV and coupe followed for 2017. Both have the twin-turbo V6 and air springs; cars from 2020 carry the updated design and uprated engine. Our catalog lists the GLC43 up to 2020.

How does the GLC43 differ from the GLC63?

The GLC63 and GLC63 S, each with its own page, use a handcrafted AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT nine-speed and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ with variable torque distribution. The GLC43 has the twin-turbo V6, a torque-converter nine-speed and a set 31:69 split.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the GLC43 AMG (X253 / C253)?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2020 car, Stage 1 takes it from 362 hp to 420 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 455 hp.

Do I need a TCU tune for the GLC43 AMG (X253 / C253)?

A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,399). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
