The car
With the V167 generation, sold from 2020, the GLE450 4MATIC became a mid-size SUV with an electrified inline-six. Its 3.0-liter engine combines a turbocharger with EQ Boost, an integrated starter-generator running on a 48-volt system, and sends its output through the 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic to fully variable 4MATIC.
The 48-volt network also makes E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL possible as an option. Reading the road ahead with Road Surface Scan, it controls spring and damping forces individually at each wheel, and its Free-driving mode can rock the SUV loose when it is stuck. Mercedes-Benz estimates 0–60 mph at 5.5 seconds and limits top speed to 130 mph. The 2024 update brought revised styling and a stronger version of the inline-six; the GLE450e plug-in hybrid added that year is a separate model.
The earlier vehicle sold as the GLE450, a V6 coupe, is listed as GLE450 (W166 / C292).
On a 2024 car, Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 381 hp and 369 lb-ft to 430 hp and 470 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 450 hp and 485 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2020–2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 (V167) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; figures and prices for each year are shown in the table above.
Only by name. The earlier car, a C292 coupe from the W166 range, has a twin-turbo V6 and is listed on our GLE450 (W166 / C292) page. The V167 GLE450 is a conventional SUV with a turbocharged inline-six, a 48-volt starter-generator and a fully variable all-wheel-drive system.
No, though both V167 models have a 3.0-liter inline-six with a 48-volt starter-generator. The GLE53 adds an electric auxiliary compressor, the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G gearbox, AMG Performance 4MATIC+ and air suspension, and it is listed on its own page, GLE53 AMG (V167 / C167).
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2024 car, Stage 1 takes it from 381 hp to 430 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 450 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,399). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
