The car
AMG began its version of the V167 generation with the GLE53. The coupe reached US dealers first, in spring 2020 as a 2021 model, and the SUV followed later that year. The coupe rides on a wheelbase 2.4 inches shorter than the SUV’s and has 21-inch wheels as standard; the SUV has 20-inch wheels and can be ordered with a third row.
The 3.0-liter inline-six combines a turbocharger, an electric auxiliary compressor and an EQ Boost starter-generator on a 48-volt system, driving through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G to AMG Performance 4MATIC+. Its air suspension, based on AIRMATIC, offers Comfort, Sport and Sport+ damping, and the available AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL adds electromechanical roll stabilization at both axles. Mercedes-Benz quotes 0–60 mph in 5.2 seconds for both bodies.
For 2024 a larger turbocharger and new software raised the engine’s torque, and the front fascia was redesigned with more expressively shaped side air intakes and new LED daytime running lights.
On a 2024 car, Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 434 hp and 413 lb-ft to 525 hp and 485 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 550 hp and 515 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2020–2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE53 AMG (V167 / C167) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; figures and prices for each year are shown in the table above.
Mercedes-Benz USA sold the GLE53 as a 2021 model from the start, even though the coupe reached dealers in spring 2020 and the SUV later that year. A GLE53 bought new in 2020 will normally be a 2021 model year, so check the year on your registration when choosing it above.
It took over from it as the six-cylinder AMG of the GLE range when the V167 generation arrived. The GLE43, a W166 SUV and C292 coupe, used a twin-turbo V6 and a 40:60 all-wheel-drive split; the GLE53 has the electrified inline-six and fully variable 4MATIC+. The GLE43 has its own page, GLE43 AMG (W166 / C292).
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2024 car, Stage 1 takes it from 434 hp to 525 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 550 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($2,399). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
