The car
Porsche presented the 991.2 GT2 RS at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in mid-2017 as the fastest and most powerful road-approved 911 it had built. On September 20 that year it lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:47.3, a record for road-approved sports cars at the time.
Its 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six builds on the 911 Turbo S engine with larger turbochargers, and an additional cooling system sprays water onto the charge-air coolers at very high temperatures. Unlike the Turbo it drives only the rear wheels, through a GT seven-speed PDK, and its titanium exhaust weighs about 7 kg less than the Turbo’s system.
Carbon fiber is used for the front fenders, hood and air intakes, the roof is magnesium, and carbon-ceramic brakes and rear-axle steering are standard. The optional Weissach Package saves about 30 kg with a carbon roof, carbon anti-roll bars and coupling rods, and magnesium wheels.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 690 hp and 553 lb-ft to 835 hp and 730 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 850 hp and 755 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2017–2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991.2) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
Both engines are 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-sixes, but the GT2 RS uses larger turbochargers and water-sprayed charge-air coolers, drives the rear wheels instead of all four, and is a two-seater with carbon and magnesium body parts. The Turbo S is listed as 911 Turbo S (991.2).
Porsche cites a notarized 6:47.3 lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife on September 20, 2017, and in the US a production-car lap record of 2:15.17 at Road America, set by David Donohue in 2019 on road-legal tires.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2019 car, Stage 1 takes it from 690 hp to 835 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 850 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,000). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
