The car
When the GT3 was updated in 2017, sold in the US from the 2018 model year, it gained a 4.0-liter engine that Porsche describes as virtually unchanged from the 911 GT3 Cup race car, and the manual gearbox returned.
The naturally aspirated flat-six revs to 9,000 rpm. Porsche gave it a new crankshaft, larger main bearings, plasma-coated cylinder liners and an oil supply fed directly into the crankshaft, and buyers chose the seven-speed PDK or, at no extra cost, a six-speed manual. With PDK it reaches 60 mph in 3.2 seconds.
Rear-axle steering carries over, and a new front fascia, rear diffuser and a wing set higher raised downforce by 20 percent. In late 2017 the GT3 with Touring Package followed: manual only, with an extending rear spoiler and Gurney flap in place of the fixed wing and leather in place of Alcantara. Porsche quotes a Nordschleife lap of 7:12.7.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 493 hp and 339 lb-ft to 540 hp and 380 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 555 hp and 395 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2017–2019 Porsche 911 GT3 (991.2) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
Yes. The Touring Package is an equipment option on the 991.2 GT3, not a separate model, and Porsche states that the engine, gearbox and chassis match those of a manual GT3. The visible differences are the extending spoiler, silver window trim and a leather-trimmed interior.
The earlier car has a 3.8-liter engine and was sold only with PDK. The 991.2 moved to the Cup-derived 4.0-liter engine, added the manual and the Touring Package, and lapped the Nordschleife about 12 seconds quicker. The 991.1 car is listed as 911 GT3 (991.1).
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2019 car, Stage 1 takes it from 493 hp to 540 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 555 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,000). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
