The car
Shown at the Detroit auto show in January 2016 and sold from the 2017 model year, the 991.2 Turbo kept the 3.8-liter VTG twin-turbo flat-six but found more output through modified intake ports in the cylinder heads, new injectors and higher fuel pressure.
A new dynamic boost function holds charge pressure when the driver lifts off briefly: fuel injection is cut while the throttle stays open, so the engine responds almost without delay when the pedal goes down again. The effect is strongest in Sport and Sport Plus.
Power still goes to all four wheels through a seven-speed PDK, and coupe and cabriolet were both available from launch. The update brought three-dimensional taillights with four-point brake lights, a three-part engine-lid grille and new door handles, and the Turbo’s 20-inch wheels grew half an inch in width to match the Turbo S.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 533 hp and 487 lb-ft to 650 hp and 695 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 675 hp and 715 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2017–2019 Porsche 911 Turbo (991.2) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
The Turbo S gets new turbochargers with larger compressors, which account for its higher rating, and adds PDCC roll control and carbon-ceramic brakes as standard. It is listed separately as 911 Turbo S (991.2), with its own figures.
No. The 992.1 Turbo, sold from the 2021 model year, has a 3,745 cc engine with larger symmetrical turbochargers, an eight-speed PDK and wider tracks. It has its own page, 911 Turbo (992.1).
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2019 car, Stage 1 takes it from 533 hp to 650 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 675 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
