About the Porsche 911 Turbo S (991.2)

New turbochargers with larger compressors are what separate the 991.2 Turbo S from the Turbo it shares a body with. Sold from the 2017 model year, it keeps the 3.8-liter VTG twin-turbo flat-six, seven-speed PDK and all-wheel drive, and Porsche quotes 0–60 mph in 2.8 seconds and a 205 mph top speed for the coupe.

It comes with PDCC active roll control and carbon-ceramic brakes as standard, along with the PASM dampers that every 991.2 Turbo has. Its center-lock 20-inch wheels switched to a seven-double-spoke design with this update.

Inside, every 991.2 Turbo gained a 360 mm GT sport steering wheel styled after the 918 Spyder’s, with a mode switch for Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. With Sport Chrono, a Sport Response button at its center readies engine and gearbox for 20 seconds of maximum acceleration, and a separate PSM Sport mode raises the stability system’s threshold for track driving.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 572 hp and 516 lb-ft to 700 hp and 720 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 730 hp and 740 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

FAQ

911 Turbo S (991.2) tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the 911 Turbo S (991.2) does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2017–2019 Porsche 911 Turbo S (991.2) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

Is the Turbo S Exclusive Series covered by this page?

No. The 500-car Exclusive Series, finished by hand by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, has a power kit that raises output further, plus carbon body parts. It has its own page, 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series (991.2).

How do I tell a 991.2 Turbo S from the earlier 991.1 car?

From behind, the 991.2 has three-dimensional taillights with four-point brake lights and a three-part engine-lid grille; from the side, its center-lock wheels have seven double spokes where the 991.1 Turbo S has ten. The earlier car is listed as 911 Turbo S (991.1).

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the 911 Turbo S (991.2)?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2019 car, Stage 1 takes it from 572 hp to 700 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 730 hp.

Do I need a TCU tune for the 911 Turbo S (991.2)?

A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,000). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
