The car
Presented at Geneva in March 2018 and sold in the US as a 2019 model, the second 991-generation GT3 RS kept a 4.0-liter, 9,000 rpm flat-six but with more output than the 991.2 GT3 of the time, paired only with a seven-speed PDK.
Its chassis borrows from racing. Ball joints replace rubber bushings on every suspension arm, the springs work with helper springs, and rear-axle steering is standard. Wheels are 20 inches at the front with 265-section tires and 21 inches at the rear with 325s.
Porsche says this RS made twice the downforce of the contemporary GT3. It was also the first GT3 RS offered with a Weissach Package, which adds carbon-fiber anti-roll bars, coupling rods and roof and opens the option of forged magnesium wheels. Kévin Estre lapped the Nordschleife in 6:56.4, 24 seconds quicker than the previous GT3 RS.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 513 hp and 347 lb-ft to 560 hp and 385 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 570 hp and 400 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2018–2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991.2) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
Both use a 4.0-liter, 9,000 rpm engine, but the RS has more output, comes only with PDK, uses ball-jointed suspension throughout and makes about twice the downforce. Porsche puts the RS 0.2 seconds ahead of a PDK GT3 to 60 mph. The GT3 is listed as 911 GT3 (991.2).
The 992.1 car moves to a single central radiator in the nose, adds a drag reduction system and active wing elements, and Porsche says it makes twice the downforce of this 991.2 RS. It has its own page, 911 GT3 RS (992.1).
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2019 car, Stage 1 takes it from 513 hp to 560 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 570 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,000). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
