The car
Introduced in 2013 for the 2014 model year, the 991.1 GT3 broke with tradition twice. Its 3.8-liter flat-six was a new design rather than a development of the Mezger race engine used in earlier GT3s, and it came only with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox.
The naturally aspirated engine uses direct injection, a first for the GT3, and revs to 9,000 rpm. Porsche adapted the PDK with lighter gear sets and shorter ratios to suit it, and with launch control the car reaches 60 mph in 3.3 seconds on the way to a 195 mph top speed.
The 991 platform brought wider tracks and a stiffer body, and the GT3 gained rear-axle steering for the first time, along with standard 20-inch forged center-lock wheels and larger brake rotors. It remains a rear-wheel-drive coupe, and Porsche quotes a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap of 7:25.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 469 hp and 325 lb-ft to 520 hp and 370 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 550 hp and 385 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2013–2016 Porsche 911 GT3 (991.1) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
No. Every 991.1 GT3 left the factory with the seven-speed PDK. Porsche brought back a six-speed manual as a no-cost alternative with the 4.0-liter 991.2 GT3 from the 2018 model year, and that car has its own page, 911 GT3 (991.2).
The RS has a larger 4.0-liter engine, the wider body of the 911 Turbo, a magnesium roof, carbon-fiber front and rear lids and louvered vents over the front wheels. It is listed separately as 911 GT3 RS (991.1).
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2016 car, Stage 1 takes it from 469 hp to 520 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 550 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
