About the Porsche Cayenne S (E3.1)

Two turbochargers instead of one set the Cayenne S apart from the entry E3 model. Its 2.9-liter V6 carries both of them inside the cylinder V, an engine it shares with the Panamera 4S of the same years, and like every Cayenne of this generation it uses an eight-speed Tiptronic S and all-wheel drive.

Adaptive PASM dampers are standard on the S, and the Sport Chrono Package, an option on the SUV, trims its 0–60 mph time from 4.9 to 4.6 seconds.

From the 2020 model year the S was also sold as a Coupe, which includes Sport Chrono and is quoted at 4.7 seconds to 60 mph, or 4.6 with the optional Lightweight Sport Package. Above the S, the Cayenne GTS (E3.1) moves to a V8, while the plug-in Cayenne E-Hybrid (E3.1) uses the base car’s single-turbo engine with an electric motor.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 434 hp and 405 lb-ft to 530 hp and 630 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 550 hp and 650 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

FAQ

Cayenne S (E3.1) tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the Cayenne S (E3.1) does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2019–2023 Porsche Cayenne S (E3.1) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

Is the Cayenne S engine the same as the base Cayenne’s?

No. The base Cayenne’s V6 displaces 3.0 liters and has a single twin-scroll turbocharger, while the S has a 2.9-liter V6 with two turbochargers. They share the E3 body and gearbox but have separate pages and figures; the base car is Cayenne (E3.1).

Does this page cover the 2024 Cayenne S?

It does not. With the 2024 facelift Porsche put a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 back into the Cayenne S, a different engine altogether. The V6 Cayenne S SUV of 2019–2023 and the S Coupe of 2020–2023 are what this page covers.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the Cayenne S (E3.1)?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2023 car, Stage 1 takes it from 434 hp to 530 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 550 hp.

Do I need a TCU tune for the Cayenne S (E3.1)?

A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
