About the Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid / 4 E-Hybrid (971.2)

Plugging in at home and covering short trips on electricity is the everyday case for the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, the entry plug-in hybrid of the updated 971.2 range. From 2021 it shared the line-up with two more powerful hybrids, the 4S E-Hybrid and the Turbo S E-Hybrid, the first time Porsche offered three plug-in Panameras.

The combustion engine is the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 also found in the gasoline Panamera 4, and the electric motor is integrated into the eight-speed PDK, with all four wheels driven. The update enlarged the battery from 14.1 to 17.9 kWh, took two tenths off the 2020 model’s 0–60 mph time, now 4.2 seconds, and added 2 mph of top speed for 174.

It was built as a sedan, a Sport Turismo and a long-wheelbase Executive, and for 2022 a Platinum Edition of the 4 E-Hybrid was also sold.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 455 hp and 516 lb-ft to 630 hp and 640 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 650 hp and 665 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

FAQ

Panamera E-Hybrid / 4 E-Hybrid (971.2) tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the Panamera E-Hybrid / 4 E-Hybrid (971.2) does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2021–2023 Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid / 4 E-Hybrid (971.2) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

How does the 4 E-Hybrid differ from the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid (971.2)?

Both pair a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 with the same electric motor and 17.9 kWh battery. The 4S E-Hybrid uses the more powerful version of the V6 from the Panamera 4S, which cuts its 0–60 mph time to 3.5 seconds and raises top speed to 185 mph. Each car has its own page.

Is the 2017–2020 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid covered?

No. This page is for the 2021–2023 cars only. The earlier Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, which has the smaller 14.1 kWh battery and the pre-update styling, is not part of our online catalog; contact us to ask about it.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the Panamera E-Hybrid / 4 E-Hybrid (971.2)?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2023 car, Stage 1 takes it from 455 hp to 630 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 650 hp.

Do I need a TCU tune for the Panamera E-Hybrid / 4 E-Hybrid (971.2)?

A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
