About the Porsche Panamera GTS (971.2)

Porsche gave the GTS a louder voice and a different character with the 2021 update. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 gained output and was reworked so that power keeps building almost to the rev limit, with throttle response meant to feel like a naturally aspirated engine, and a sport exhaust with asymmetrically placed rear silencers became standard.

The rest of the drivetrain carries over from the 971.1 GTS: an eight-speed PDK and all-wheel drive. Porsche’s figures put it two tenths quicker to 100 km/h than its predecessor.

It looks darker than other 2021 Panameras, with Satin Black SportDesign front and rear sections, Satin Black 20-inch wheels and tinted Exclusive Design taillights, and the cabin uses Race-Tex trim with 18-way adaptive sport seats as standard. It was sold as a sedan and a Sport Turismo; there was no GTS Executive.

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 473 hp and 457 lb-ft to 675 hp and 690 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 720 hp and 738 lb-ft.

FAQ

Panamera GTS (971.2) tuning questions

More answers in our FAQ

Which years of the Panamera GTS (971.2) does this tune fit?

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2021–2023 Porsche Panamera GTS (971.2) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.

How do I tell the 971.2 GTS from the 2019–2020 car?

Look at the rear: the 2021 car has tinted taillights joined by a light strip running unbroken over the tailgate, and Satin Black front and rear trim. Inside, Race-Tex takes the place of the earlier Alcantara. The pre-update car is Panamera GTS (971.1) and has its own page.

Is the Panamera Turbo S (971.2) the same engine with more power?

It comes from the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 family, but the Turbo S version has a revised crankshaft, connecting rods, timing drive and torsional vibration dampers, a lower compression ratio and much more output, and that car adds carbon-ceramic brakes and rear-axle steering as standard. The two are listed separately.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the Panamera GTS (971.2)?

Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2023 car, Stage 1 takes it from 473 hp to 675 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 720 hp.
