The car
Through the 2017–2020 model years the Turbo was the fastest Panamera without a hybrid system, with a top speed of 190 mph. It was the V8 car of the US launch, alongside the six-cylinder 4S.
Its 4.0-liter V8 places both turbochargers in the V between the cylinder banks and was the first Porsche engine with adaptive cylinder deactivation, running on four cylinders under light load. The Cayenne Turbo (E3.1) uses the same basic V8, but the Panamera pairs it with the eight-speed PDK dual-clutch where the Cayenne has a torque-converter automatic.
Air suspension and all-wheel drive are standard, and on the sedan the rear wing splits as it extends. Buyers could choose the sedan, the long-wheelbase Executive or, from the 2018 model year, the Sport Turismo.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 541 hp and 568 lb-ft to 675 hp and 690 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 720 hp and 738 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2017–2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo (971.1) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
No. For the 2021 model year Porsche replaced the Turbo with the Panamera Turbo S, whose V8 has a revised crankshaft, connecting rods and timing drive. It has its own page, Panamera Turbo S (971.2). This page covers the 2017–2020 Turbo in all three body styles.
The Turbo S E-Hybrid adds an electric motor and a 14.1 kWh plug-in battery to the same V8, which makes it more powerful and quicker, at 3.2 seconds to 60 mph, and it comes with carbon-ceramic brakes as standard. The two are listed separately with their own figures.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2020 car, Stage 1 takes it from 541 hp to 675 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 720 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
