The car
Putting a plug-in hybrid at the top of a model line was new for Porsche when the Turbo S E-Hybrid joined the 971 range, and Porsche called it the most powerful Panamera yet. It combines the Panamera Turbo’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor and can drive on electricity alone.
The motor sits in a hybrid module ahead of the eight-speed PDK, with an electromechanical clutch that decouples the V8, and draws on a liquid-cooled 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. All four wheels are driven, and Porsche rated the car at 3.2 seconds from rest to 60 mph, with a 192 mph maximum.
Carbon-ceramic brakes and air suspension are standard. The car was built in all three Panamera bodies of the time: the sedan, the long-wheelbase Executive, which Porsche rates a tenth slower to 60 mph, and the Sport Turismo.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 671 hp and 627 lb-ft to 805 hp and 786 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 830 hp and 800 lb-ft. The gearbox has its own controller and torque limits, so the optional TCU tune raises them to match, with sharper shifts and stronger clutch clamping.

Our online catalog lists Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes for 2017–2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid (971.1) models. Choose your year at the top of the page; the figures and prices are the same for every year.
The 971.2 car that followed has a 17.9 kWh battery, more output from the V8, a top speed raised to 196 mph and a new front end with dual C-shaped Turbo light modules. It is listed as Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid (971.2), with its own figures; this page is for the pre-facelift car.
The Turbo is the gasoline-only car with the same 4.0-liter V8, quicker than any other non-hybrid Panamera of these years but not as quick as this one: Porsche quotes 3.4 seconds to 60 mph for the Turbo with Sport Chrono and 3.2 for the hybrid. It is listed on its own page.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and runs on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 pairs the calibration with supporting bolt-on modifications such as downpipes and runs on high-octane fuel. On a 2020 car, Stage 1 takes it from 671 hp to 805 hp. Stage 2 takes it to 830 hp.
A TCU tune is available as an add-on ($1,999). It raises the transmission’s torque limits and sharpens the shifts so the gearbox can handle the extra power. Ship your TCU in the same box as your ECU.
