The car
Black Badge began at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, where Rolls-Royce presented darker, more assertive versions of the Ghost and Wraith. On the Ghost, the chrome of the grille surround, trunk lid finisher and exhaust tips was darkened, the Spirit of Ecstasy turned high-gloss black and the RR badge became silver on black, with the mathematical symbol for infinity adopted as the series emblem.
The changes are not only cosmetic. The 6.6-liter V12 was given more power and torque, the eight-speed automatic and throttle pedal were recalibrated to respond more sharply, and the Low button on the gear selector was set up to release an extra reserve of performance. Rolls-Royce spent four years developing a carbon-fiber composite wheel for the series, and the cabin uses carbon fiber woven with aluminum thread, accented in purple on the Ghost.
Stage 1 is calibrated for the car as it left the factory and takes it from 604 hp and 620 lb-ft to 700 hp and 700 lb-ft on pump-grade fuel. Stage 2 is calibrated for supporting bolt-on modifications and high-octane fuel, for 730 hp and 750 lb-ft.

No. The Black Badge Ghost launched in 2021 is based on the second-generation Ghost, with a 6.75-liter V12, all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering. It has its own page, Ghost Black Badge (second generation). This page covers the 2016–2020 car built on the Ghost Series II.
